Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Unemployed qualified teachers are continuing their protest in front of Bikash Bhavan located in Salt Lake, demanding reinstatement of their jobs with dignity. The protest has been ongoing for an extended period and has led to several tense situations at the site. These events have disrupted the daily life of residents living in the nearby Karunamoyee area, causing inconvenience to the local community.
A resident of Karunamoyee has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court seeking relief from the disturbances caused by the protest. The petition describes that the frequent protests and related incidents in front of Bikash Bhavan have been obstructing normal public movement and affecting general peace. The petitioner has requested urgent judicial intervention to address these issues.
The petition was filed before Justice Soumen Sen, who granted permission to proceed with the case. However, the court noted that there are around 700 public interest litigations pending, many of which do not involve genuine public interest. Due to this backlog, the court did not agree to expedite the hearing or immediately resolve the matter.
According to the petition, daily incidents at the protest site cause significant difficulties for the residents of Karunamoyee. The petitioner has held the police responsible for inaction in controlling the situation, which has contributed to ongoing problems for the community. The petition highlights that the unrest has had a tangible negative impact on the routine activities of local people.
The ongoing protest and resulting disturbances in front of Bikash Bhavan remain a concern for Karunamoyee residents. The legal process initiated aims to seek an appropriate solution to restore normalcy in the area and alleviate the difficulties faced by the local population due to the prolonged agitation.
